Description: The worst web hosting company ever. Down times are consistantly getting below 95%, subdomains never worked. Now my site is not working and no one will answer the support phones nor emails or live chat. You can call and let the phone ring for hours. Stay away this smells like a real scam. Looks like the staff have dissapeared! Read the reviews to see.

    Stay Away

This company will usually give you good service ONLY during the 30 day trial. Watch out after that. We did lots of local paid magazine and television advertising and learned from customers that our account had been suspended! We paid again and a few days later the account was again suspended. Of course, the "missing man" who handles that department is not available at the moment and NOBODY else at SurfSpeedy knows anything. They "say" their billing dept is in another city. Takes DAYS to get tickets responded to.

Better to sign up at www.icdsoft.com where all tickets are answered within one hour. Move away from this SurfSpeedy and tell your friends to STAY AWAY from SurfSpeedy.

I have been with this company for about 7 months. I cannot count how many times my site has been down. Many times while uploading via FTP it would seem my site would disappear. When this would happen I couldn't check my email, I couldn't log into the control panel, couldn't upload, and my site GONE.

The customer support is horrible, all I would get out of them "We're working on it, sorry for the inconvenience." My site was down for a week straight and their excuse was server failure. I haven't gotten a response to my ticket for support I submitted over a week ago. And usually by the time they respond my site is back up and they say "well I don't see a problem" yeah my problem was a couple days ago, dude.

So I am saying bye bye to them and moving on and searching for greener pastures.

To you people who left positive reviews, you haven't been with them long enough. I was happy with surf speedy for the first month, but after the 30 day money back guaruntee expired, the problems came FLOOOOOOOOODING in!!!!!!!! It has been a horrible experience ever since. I wasted my money and wasted my time, I should have gotten out a long time ago.

My experiences and thus, my ratings for Surfspeedy's web hosting services are low. Extended downtime, problems with DNS, unresolved issues, and the impression that important concerns were put on the "back-burner".

I wound up moving 5 domains from SurfSpeedy.com, one after one, to other web hosting services, although I had already paid SurfSpeedy for each one for the entire year. It was prudent to cut my losses there, and reinvest in a more reliable service elsewhere

    Support sucks!

I've been with Surf Speedy for only a couple months, they have decent reponse times for suppport tickets (1 day), but I left them mainly because their "customer service" was pretty unintelligible. Polite, but most of them seemed really incompetent.

It usually took a few days until someone qualified from their staff, who knew what they were doing, to help resolve my problem. It was pretty dissappointing.

The problems didn't end there. Their servers were constantly down and up. It took them ages to get the problem fixed. I am now with a much much better host. When you find a good host, it makes hosts like surfspeedy look terrible.

If you are looking for a serious host, I wouldn't recommend Surf Speedy.

Have only had them for about 3 days now and I couldn't be happier I picked them.

-Instant account and site access after registering.
-Great bandwidth and storage for price.
-Awesome download speed. Was able to download at over 1MBps!!!!
-Great config interface with lots of features.
-Haven't had any downtime or any need to call support so that is nice.

Couldn't ask for more, well maybe some more storage :)

    Why!!
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-31-2005
I started with SurfSpeedy in August 2004. They were working out really great until recently. Their control panel is really good and they have alot of templates. My problem with them started recently. Their customer service was great at first, then recently it would take them days to respond. I had a big problem lately with them being down constantly. I could never log in to edit my site. I would email them, and they would constantly ask for my username and password and paypal transaction #. Each time I received a support email, it would be from another rep and they would each ask me for the same verifying info. They had me ripping out my hair. Then I decided to switch in January to another hoster. It took me over 1 month to get them to unlock my domain so I could transfer my DNS. Then they unlocked my domain, and never released it. And again, each person would make me give them all my verifying info and make me wait days to reply. I think they should assign one or 2 people to each domain holder and not have ten people working on each support ticket. This complicates things and noone ever knows what was going on last. I wish they would have been really reliable, I would have stayed with them, because believe me, it was hell trying to transfer out of them. They lock you in like AOL! LOL. I am now with Dot5 hosting and so far their customer service has been excellent and have stuck by me trying to get surfspeedy to transfer my domain.

    good prices, horrid staff
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-31-2005
Have been with Surf Speedy for 7 months. The overall package is outstanding. Speed, 24/7 chat support, ticket support, and phone support, loaded cpanel with many statistical packages and scripts.

However, chat support is rarely useful - they usually tell you to open a ticket. Telephone support also tells you to open a ticket. When you open a ticket, it takes about a dozen back and forths to resolve a technical problem. I still have an unresolved ticket from December 28 and this is now February 6.

Support is not in the U. S., the chat support I contacted tonight was located in the Philippines. Phone support sounds like they are in India - so technical language understanding is a problem.

So what am I saying? The business model is right on target, but when things so wrong, as they will, the overseas staff isn't trained technically to deal with it. And, culturally, as Americans, we want things fixed right away, and Surf Speedy's Support usually asks for patience - they don't understand right away. (They are supposed to update the statistics at midnight, but it could be any time from midnight to noon or beyond!)

Support at Surf Speedy is very courteous, refreshingly honest about the situation, but just not up to snuff technically. When the system goes down, they are not able to pinpoint the problem quickly - they flounder. One day about a month ago it took System Administration nine hours to get the system up because they didn't know what brought it down.

When I asked for credit for the system being down, Surf Speedy quickly credited my next bill for one month.

If Surf Speedy would tighten system administration and tech support they would be terrific.

One last point: Low price isn't everything. If it means that I would have to pay more to get a taut system administration and tech support, so be it.

Reviewer: Rock       02-15-2006
I've had a quite bad experience with Surf Speedy. First of all, don't get caught by their nice website, it's only a front.

1- I've had many problem with their billing system that sent me "to be billed" emails and "You have been billed" which started to get confusing after awhile. So I checked my accounts (I have 2 sites with them) and I was billed a couple times more then I was supposed to and I had to talk MANY times with their support team to get results. Each time they told me that it would be taken care of and then nohing happenned so I had to call again...

2- Their servers are OFTEN down, ranging from 5-20 minutes to a couple hours. This is very annoying for me since I'm testing the websites I'm building on their server and I have to stop each time it goes down but I have no clue how long I have to wait before resuming my work.

And by the way the reason I'm writing this review is because my 2 sites are actually down as well as their own site and I'm getting pretty tired of this...

BOTTOM LINE : DON'T buy anything from them! NOT RELIABLE!! Just a pretty front... Pay more to get REAL service.

RECOMMENDED : I currently have about 20 sites with http://geohost.ca/ and they have GREAT service, great price and they usually solve ANY of your problems within 1 hour to 1 day. I NEVER waited more than a day for any change or setup.

ok let me tell you my story. I had been a reseller with Surfspeedy for approx 5 months and everything went good until just recently. My account was terminated I believe Monday Jan 24th. I contact surfspeedy via the ticket system and got this response

Hello,

In regards to my account being terminated due to spamming, I would like to
find out what site was actaully spamming, I was not notified about this
problem.. the email set in billing should have been mikesheridan5@msn.com
and I have not received no such emails. If I had been notified I would have
ceased the account responsible for email spamming.. IF you could provide
more details on this matter I would greatly appreciate this.

I do however need to recover lost files and database information if that is
possible let me know so I can set up my other account with a different host
as they are not pleased with being terminated. and are losing money being
down that I will be liable for.

Please provide me with this information in a timely manner.

Regards,
Michael Sheridan

Or which account was the one spamming.. IF I had knew I would have terminated their account.

I dont see why you terminated my Reseller acount... simply letting me know which account was doing the spamming Would have been suffcient and I would have terminated them no problem.

But i really like to know who was spamming, what proof you have for the spamming, so I can go about this in the most professional way.. What is my current billing email address?

I am speaking with a support representitive, She stated that the dopmain that used for the email spamming which was www.cedarvalleyweb.com - I do not host this website, I did a whois on the domain and it came up with the following.

Domain Name: CEDARVALLEYWEB.COM
Registrar: KEY-SYSTEMS GMBH
Whois Server: whois.rrpproxy.net
Referral URL: http://www.key-systems.net
Name Server: NS1.IDOTZ.NET
Name Server: NS2.IDOTZ.NET
Name Server: NS3.IDOTZ.NET
Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Updated Date: 17-jan-2005
Creation Date: 22-dec-2003
Expiration Date: 22-dec-2004

Why did i get terminated for an account on which i did not host?

They did not answer any questions as to why my account was terminated. I then proceded to contact SurfSpeedy via Phone. I talked to a lady Baily which is there support contact. which i also think she is there billing contact (I never once was able to speak to a tech) About this situation. She had then told me that My account was terminated due to email spam. I then asked to which domain that was sending out the email spam. She had then told me the domain was cedarvalleyweb.com, Which i had that domain a while back but was never used. I can assure i do not tolerate email spamming at all.

She then said she tried to contact me via phone twice about this matter (in Nov) She said the phone was not valid which is wasn't my phone number changed and i failed to update my billing details (where im not ever sure where i can update my details) I then asked her why they didn't send an email to the contact email which i check on an hourly basis. She had no response. They had failed to contact me via email about this matter.

I just got off the phone with someone (it sounded like the same lady) and i wanted some kind of proof of this matter and I she had stated that the email spam that was sent out was about child pornography WHICH I DO NOT DO NOTHING OF THE SORT. This is completely bs. I then asked her if she knew what spoofing was, she paused (i don't think she knew what spoofing was) and then explained to her that this had to be the case as i do not spam no sort of emails as I dont do business that way and defintately not adult/child port related emails.

They tell me that i cannot get my data back to which i have 6 customers 1 of which is an ecommerce website which the client had spent 2 months populating his products into this. HE is very upset with me and I really don't know what to tell him.

I have yet to se proof of this matter and the email that was sent out so I can assure them that this did not come from me or any of my clients ( if any client of mine broke any TOS/AUP I would terminate just his account no problem. BUt the fact that they terminated my reseller account i just dont understand the reasoning behind this..

I am in the middle of getting a lawyer to settle this matter and by all means I do not think they should be in the hosting business (the whole 2 people running it)

So i warm anyone deciding to be a reseller or even host with SurfSpeedy.com DO NOT

And i imagine they wil get on there and try to make me look like the bad guy.. even thogh they don't seem to repond to any tickets or calls.

They sometimes reply in Customer Support, so you get what you need.. It is affordable, and, like it says, they are speedy.

    Not Worth the Effort
Reviewer: Matt       02-27-2006
I have attempted to use Surfspeedy two times. The first time, the control pannel was not behaving correctly. I asked them for nearly two weeks to fix the problem and they always offered, for example add an email account when the email pannel was not working for me. I canceled the account.

The second time, hoping that they service might have improved, the server was going up and down for about a week until they decided to take the server down for a whole day while they backup everything on the server and reinstall the server softwear. They did not send me an email they they were going have such a downtime. Only when I had called them and send tickets did they send me an email, but at that time the server was back up.

I complained to them that anonymous ftp was not working. They said it was disabled. I asked them to enable it. They responded that they could not, as it was a security issue that was more than just my account. I understood the reasoning, but they advertised anonymous ftp and I wanted to get everything I'm paying for. Stevie, the head support guy, said that after the trial period (30 days) they would move me to a new server.

After that period, which was around the time when the server was going up and down, I asked to be moved, but was denined. I was sick of fighting to get what I was paying for, and I moved on.

This is my experience. Avoid them. They seem to have several customers whom they make happy so that they have the appearance of a good company. All of the support it outsourced to India or some asian country, making the support existant and stable, but poor, as english is not well understood when using technical terms. Different people would handle different messages of the support ticket, requiring you to rewrite the problems you are having, as well as you domain name, repeadly.

There are many other hosting companies, I suggest only consider this one if you have a specific reason to. Otherwise, pass this one up to save your own time.

I started with SurfSpeedy in August 2004.

Have been with Surf Speedy for 7 months.

If it means that I would have to pay more to get a taut system administration and tech support, so be it.

ok let me tell you my story.

ok let me tell you my story.

I have been with SurfSpeedy for only 1 week, but I love it already. My PHP / MySQL scripts run very fast. There has been no downtime. They have an excellent collection of scripts that install instantly. Also, they give let you add 1 addon domain for no charge, and very few hosts do that.

SurfSpeedy is an excellent Web Hosting service. They provide you with 3 months for $1.00 to try their product. If you do not like the product, they always have a 30-day back garuntee.

They sometimes reply in Customer Support, so you get what you need.. It is affordable, and, like it says, they are speedy.

Surf Speedy provided quality hosting for about a year before downtime started becoming a problem. Within the last 6 months numerous random problems ( extended downtime, email server issues, ftp issues, database problems, etc ) began popping up on an almost weekly basis. These problems required endless haggling with support to get fixed. The quality of support went from decent to total bulls**t during this time. It would take days, sometimes weeks to get a response and more often than not the response offered by support was prefuctory, offering no real information or explaination of what was going on. When I began having issues with bandwidth and CPU usage this became extremely problematic.

At one point they indicated that I needed to upgrade to a new account with more robust features. This wasn't really a problem, but at this time I became aware that I had been paying them a a good $6 more per month for a number of months for far less space and far less bandwidth than the plan they now wanted me to upgrade to. Unfortunately, what I found out after upgrading was that they are unable to provide the bandwidth and the service they're selling anyway. They moved my site to a VPS server without informing me about it ahead of time claiming CPU usage issues. When I questioned them on this it became clear that the scripts they claimed were causing the CPU usage issue weren't even in my directory. They claimed that they would move my site back and not charge me for the more expensive server. Then my outgoing e-mail server went down. I was unable to send any outgoing e-mail for an entire month. I went back and forth with support over this but they never did anythign to fix it. Then they announced that they were going to have to move me to a VPS again because of CPU usage issues, unless I could fix the issue. When I asked what was causing the CPU usage problem and how they thought I could fix it they offered no further explaination or suggestion. Instead, they totally deleted my account. Unfortunately they didn't tell me that they were going to delete my account either beforehand or after they did it. It took me a week to get them to admit that they had disabled my site. At this time they told me that they would make my data available to me so I could move to another host or they could upgrade me to the VPS ( note: the error pages that would come up when I would visit my domain indicated that I was already on the VPS and it's my belief that they had kept my site on the VPS since the first supposed

I tried SurfSpeedy for hosting starting in the middle of June, falling for lots of features and low price. By the middle of July there were several unresolved issues, including Ftp uploads, blocked incoming email, slow response to problems and more, so I requested a cancellation and refund under their 90 day money back guarantee. After a couple of weeks I contacted them and they insisted the

If you have a site that have less than 1000 users a day its good but if you have more they suspend your account every week.
